Hey all, Jared here! Things are progressing fast at the shop in preparation for the big launch party coming up on Saturday.  The new shelves have been assembled and the mountain of exciting new stock is starting to dwindle as each item is being processed.  We’re just about ready to turn the page and begin our exciting new chapter!   But you may be wondering, “ok yeah, you guys are doing used books now.  But what sort of books will you be carrying?”  I’m here to answer that in this post and give you an idea of the vision we have behind...

Good morning folks! A quick introduction today, as there's so much happening! This past week, we held our first ever Introverts Reading Night, had a creator signing featuring future industry star Curt Pires, and teamed up with Zoe's Animal Rescue for our first Dogs and Comics Event. While we were there, we started putting the pieces together for our next cat event, and started some more painting projects, as the store gets ready for the official launch of our used prose books section on this Saturday...

[caption id="attachment_348932" align="aligncenter" width="400"] Cover to All-New Doop #5 by Mike and Laura Allred.[/caption] Full disclosure: All-New Doop is a strange, strange book. Greetings everyone! We hope that your Thanksgiving weekend is going well, and that family hasn’t stressed you out too much. Or that the Presidential debates didn’t boil your brain. (Or hey, maybe you skipped all of it and watched some wrestles instead? WWE’s Smackdown brand usually puts on a good show.) Anyway, this week is a monster, as we’ve finally got a massive restock in after our big move. It’s… robust, to say the least, and this post was clocking in at over 1800 words before we wrote the introduction. Basically? Lots of stuff. So much stuff, there was no time...

So this is exciting. Over the past couple of weeks, as we’ve been settling into the new space, we’ve been putting together something that will make Variant Edition stronger and better than ever. We decided that today, would be the announcement of this big change, and in solidarity, Edmonton decided to turn the weather dial, and coat the city in fresh, white snow. The first snowfall is a great metaphor - arriving and changing the landscape in a moment. While some don’t look forward to snow, we like what it brings to the city. It unites us in strange ways, all of...

Good morning everyone, and welcome to October. As we are writing this (in advance!) it’s a rainy day and the leaves are falling all around us. There’s a lot of trees around our new location, so we regularly have to sweep out leaves that blow in which is… oddly nice. Our new digs definitely feel more warm and cozy, and being so close to tree-lined residential streets definitely adds to that feel. But anyway. It’s another huge week of comics, with a lot of starts, and a lot of really strange crossover ideas. Seriously, you’re going to see The Army of...
